MILES Gives Back

In 2007 the MILES Program developed a charitable giving initiative-MILES Gives Back.  This initiative was created as a way for the MILES Program, and its employees, to take a more proactive approach in contributing to the charitable nonprofit organizations that help increase the quality of life for the members of the United States Armed Forces.

MILES Gives Back allows the MILES Program to support nonprofit, most often military oriented, throughout the year with monetary donations, in addition to making an annual donation to one chosen military nonprofit organization of proceeds from every contract.

Below are a few of the organizations that we have contributed to thus far:

image In December 2009 MILES awarded the Armed Services YMCA the annual MILES Gives Back donation.  The Armed Services YMCA was selected because of the support services they provide to military service members and their families, and for the fact that they are particularly focused on the junior enlisted men and women.

imageMILES presented the inaugural MILES Gives Back donation to the United Service Organizations (USO) in 2007 then in 2009 MILES once again selected the USO for the annual MILES Gives Back donation.  The mission of the USO is to support the troops by providing moral, wellness, and recreation-type services to the men and women in uniform.

imageIn November 2009 MILES offered a donation the Ft. Hood chapter of the AUSA Memorial Fund.  The donation was an expression of our support for those families, friends, and neighbors who were affected by the tragedy which occured earlier that month.

imageIn 2008 MILES selected the Fisher House at Fort Sam Houston Texas as our annual donation recipient.  MILES provided the Fisher House with a $10,000 donation in late 2008.  The Fisher House provides a “home away from home” for military families who travel to be close to loved ones during hospital stays for illness, disease, or injury.  MILES is proud to help support this worthy organization on behalf of our employees and friends.

imageYouth Challenge Academy The Fort Gordon Youth Challenge Academy’s purpose is to provide “at risk” youth with Academic and Life Skills training aimed at improving employment potential.  The program which lasts 22 weeks at Ft. Gordon helps youth change their lives for the better.  MILES has donated to this worthwhile organization for more than 5 years.

imageGabriel House The Gabriel House’s mission is to rescue children who have been abandoned, discarded, or who are in need of medical treatment.  The vision of the Gabriel House is to rescue, rehabilitate, and help these children reach their highest level of independence and functioning.

imageMarine Toys for Tots Each year around the holidays, the MILES corporate office sets up a collection point for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation.  The mission of the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute them to needy children in the community where the campaign is conducted.

imageSusan G. Komen MILES Program employees participate in “Passionately Pink for the Cure” for the Susan G. Komen Foundation each year.  The funds raised and donated during this campaign helps the Komen Foundation increase breast cancer awareness.

imageAdopt A PlatoonMILES selects a few AdoptaPlatoon campaigns to participate in each year. These campaigns allow MILES employees to send soldiers overseas requested items through care packages.

imageKentucky Blood Center Every year the MILES corporate office hosts a blood drive with the Central Kentucky Blood Center.  Just one person donating a single pint of blood can save the lives of up to three people.
